Welcome to the McLean Focus website!
THE TEAM
Welcome to the website of the McLean Focus--a U-17 Boys Travel Soccer team playing in Division 3 of the highly-competitive National Capital Soccer League (NCSL), combining travel teams from Northern Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C.
TEAM PHILOSOPHY
Our key goal is to preserve and foster our children's love of soccer into their teen years and beyond. For this, we believe that they need a good mix of challenge and hard work, technical progress, personal satisfaction, friendship and fun. Attention to individual player's needs is critical, but so is commitment to the team, sportsmanship, following rules and instructions, and respect for the authority of the coach. Overall, we are confident that the qualifications and character of our coach, together with a sense of community and friendship among parents, creates the right environment for these goals to be achieved.
MYS FRAMEWORK
The parents of McLean Focus have agreed to give oversight of the technical aspects and direction of the team to the McLean Youth Soccer (MYS) travel program, headed by MYS Technical Director Curt Onalfo. Thus, our professional coach has been selected from the ranks of MYS' highly-qualified coaching staff (see above); Curt Onalfo and his team are monitoring the progress and development of our team; and Focus players are able to participate in the optional Monday night MYS training sessions. Parents remain, of course, a key part of the team and are supporting the Focus through their input and participation in all soccer, social, and administrative matters.
